Camp $tart-Up is the entrepreneurial experience
of choice for savvy DollarDivas. Since 1992, Independent Means Inc.
has been the leading provider of programs and materials for girls'
financial independence. Over the past 9 years, Camp $tart-Up programs
have been held in California, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota,
New Mexico and New York. In addition to Camp $tart-Up, IMI also
offers Summer Stock for DollarDivas interested in learning
how to invest, An Income of Her Own Conferences
and the National Biz Plan Competition for the entrepreneurial
DollarDiva, as well as mentoring workshops and training for adults.
Our extensive array of books, games, kits, videos, and online resources
help prepare young women for a secure and independent economic future.
At all of our DollarDiva programs, we say
"Business isn't spinach." At Camp $tart-Up,
our approach is creative, sometimes messy,
unpredictable, and fun! Games, role playing,
and laughter are an integral part of our
learning activities. In addition, we balance
the business curriculum with an afternoon
recreational program. With full access to
site athletic facilities, participants enjoy
swimming and other activities
for example a golf clinic or a
yoga session. Depending on the
location, evening programs may
include a night of theater games, dance,
creativity sharing, videos, or a concert. An
excursion to a nearby city or tourist attraction
for sight-seeing and shopping is always a
session highlight.
